Kisumu Millennium City - a Lakeside City

The lively lakeside and millenial city of Kisumu, formerly known as Port Florence is situated along Lake Victoria, the world's second largest fresh water body and only about 80km south east of Nyang’oma kogelo, the ancestral home of the father of the 44th President of United States of America, Barack Obama. Kisumu is Kenya's third largest city. The city is close proximity to the equitor and was used as a transit point by European travelers to central and aouthern parts of Africa using flying boats. Kisumu is a thriving fishing and commercial city which is steadly positioning itself as the comercial hub of western Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda and the Great Lakes region, a part from being the headquarters of one of the East African Community organs, East African Lake Basin Authority (EALA).
The surrounding region is rich in culture and history, with many intriguing and historic sites among them the Rusinga islands, Naere Island National Park the crying stones and forests of Kakamega and a variety of wild flora and faunit.
